How it works:
You tell it how old you are (or claim to be).
It ask a question that someone who’s that age would know, but someone who’s a lot younger most likely wouldn’t.
It uses AI to verify your answer
Simple. Kinda fun. Users we’ve shown it to like to refresh and try with different ages. Something I bet they’ve never done with another age verification tool before. 🙂
Things we learned from the thing:
Obviously there are a bunch of flaws here. This is not an ironclad system, and is unlikely to be a production-ready idea. A proof of concept, if you will.
But I think you can see how there might be opportunities to enhance the way we do validation of forms using AI.
Right now, you’d have to roughly one million JavaScript rules to handle uppercase, lowercase, extra whitespace, misspellings, following validation rules, similar/adjacent but still correct answers, etc etc.
In the future, I think you could instead say, “Hey AI, here’s the question - does this answer look right?”
We tend to think of AI like a chatbot, and sometimes fail to think of more creative ways to use it. Form validation is just one example. I think there are hundreds (thousands?) of ways we’ll discover to use AI to improve a user experience, dynamically and automatically.
Our beta users agree:
“What impressed me about pop quiz is that it’s such a simple yet effective way of using AI to solve an age-old problem, pun intended. Doesn’t hurt that it’s fun to use. I’ve seen AI jammed into so many products for the sake of saying it’s ‘AI-powered,’ but pop quiz is actually useful.”
